Friday, March 10, 2000 @ Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island - 8:00 p.m. EST

Well, after getting a little lost, Alan and I finally made it to Providence!  (I owe him my life practically for driving me all over New England to see Type O - it's so wonderful to have such great friends!)  We met Liz in line (she had our tickets) around 6:30 and hung out, waiting for the doors to open!!  Someone decided it would be fun to get a head start on crowd surfing too just before the doors opened - that was interesting!  Well, finally, at about 10 after 7, the doors opened.  We first headed to the bathrooms and the merchandise booth.  I got a couple of stickers and a long-sleeve T (with the guys on the front, skeleton crew on the back, and 4 dicks from Brooklyn down the sleeve).   Then, we decided to head up to the balcony to sit down for the opening bands.   We ended up with a really good spot though - right at the top of the stairs near the back-stage entrance.  Very good view of the activity down there, and of the stage actually!  So, we stood up there waiting for the show to start, and my friend Steve came up and introduced himself (we'd been talking online for a couple months, but it was the first time we'd ever met).  So, we stood around shooting the shit, then Steve helped Liz and I get a few pictures with some of the guys from the Deadlights.   First, we got a pic taken with Billy (the guitarist) and I got to talk to him about his septum piercing for a bit.  He was really sweet - cool guy.  Then, we got our picture taken with Duke (the singer) - who is sooo incredibly hot!  Anyway!   Then, Johnny came out from backstage, so Liz and I asked if we could get a picture with him, and of course he obliged.  He was really sweet too, as usual!

Then, we went back up to the balcony to watch the show.  The Deadlights were great once again, and we just kinda chatted through Full Devil Jacket's performance. While we were sitting there though, we had a nice view of Johnny's ass (he stood out for both the Deadlights and FDJ's performance), so Liz snapped a picture of that cute tush! *LOL* (That will be coming soon to the site!)  While they were setting up the stage for Coal Chamber's set, Rayna was standing behind the guitars, and these guys (who couldn't have been older than 14) who were standing next to us, hauled ass down the stairs to get her autograph and then returned, babbling about how it was the greatest day of their lives - I just found it kinda funny.  Anyway! Then, Coal Chamber took the stage, opening with "Sway" (and lemme tell ya, I had "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire..." ALL night long - *LOL*)  They did a really good set though, and about halfway through it, Liz and I went down to the floor to find a good spot to see Type O.   We ended up to the left of the soundboard in the back of the club with a really good view of the stage.  The good thing about Lupo's is that it's small enough where you can be at the very back, and STILL have a kickass view.  It was cool to see the rest of Coal Chamber's set from there too - Meegs looks wicked intense on stage!   Very cool dude, and I'm even more impressed with Coal Chamber after seeing this show!  Coal Chamber ended their awesome set, and then it was just waiting for Type O!

They played the music to "A Clockwork Orange" again as they made their way on stage to people chanting "You Suck."  Pete said something about being a sensitive guy and hearing people say shit like that, it hurt his feelings. It was cute!   And then he was like "Well, whether you love us or you hate us, the fact is - you already paid us!"  They played "Kill All The White People" as their first song, and played "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" next (I think! I honestly can never remember the exact order of the setlist...)  Before "Prelude To Agony" Pete said "I wrote this song about 10 years ago, and I can't remember writing it, but I can remember how to play it."  They also played "Love You To Death" and "Christian Woman" and after "Christian Woman" Pete thanked the audience for their help with the lyrics to cover his mistakes.  Pete gave the same intro to "Everyone I Love Is Dead" that he did at the Lewiston show - about calling it "Everyone I Love Owes Me Money" - still funny, even if I had heard it before!  They again played the riff from "Aqualung" before ripping into "Too Late" during which they again used the snow machine! Very cool!  And once again "World Coming Down" knocked me on my ass!  I absolutely love when they perform that song live - it's amazing.  And Kenny is sooooo energetic during this song - it's so awesome to witness!  They then did an encore of "Black No. 1" after the audience chanted "You Suck" and Pete came out on stage and said "Yeah, you keep tellin' us!  And the only thing I can do is keep playin'!"  (Or something like that - can't remember, exactly!)  As they ended their set, Josh threw his keyboards down on stage, and Pete ripped the strings off his bass (per usual).  Pete then thanked the audience and said a thank you to the security guys who were "protecting" the audience from "flying equipment" (probably meaning Josh's keyboards...) and told the audience "If you're drinking and driving, make sure ya hit someone ya hate!"

With that ending the show, we went outside!  And I ran into Nikki (Maiiah) and her boyfriend, and we chatted for a bit - she's such a sweetie!  But, I was looking for my friend Alan 'cause he had wandered off with my camera!!  Finally found him, and we hung around waiting for the guys to com out to talk to us fans.  I saw Kenny get on the bus, and he was actually the first to come out and talk to people!  So, Liz and I got our picture with him, and autographs, and I asked him what sort of effects he used on his guitar. (He uses flange and chorus - I just had to know from the horse's mouth!)  Next, Johnny came off the bus, and Liz and I got another pic with Nikki too!   Then - Josh!   Liz and I asked for  a pic, and he said "Sure!"  So, we went and posed for the pic, and he had his cigarette in the hand near me and he was trying   to get his arm around me and said "I don't want to burn your hair."   And I replied "Oh, don't worry - I burn my hair all the time lighting my own cigarettes!"  And he said "Me too!"  And kinda chuckled - it was so cute!  Then, we got another picture with Josh with Rob (Liz's little brother) and Joe (Liz's boyfriend).  Then, it was just waiting for Peter!!!

We all hung around on the sidewalk, and chatted - watching the crowd dwindle.  Liz and I had to pee, so we begged a roadie to let us back into the club (to which he oh-so-nicely obliged) and were scoping for Peter in there, but no dice!  So, back out in the freezing cold we went - and finally, at about 2:15 or so, Peter comes out of the club with a girl in two.   So, I said "Hey Pete!!  Mind if we get some pictures and autographs!"  And Pete replied - "Sure! Just give me two minutes."   As he's getting on the bus, his jeans were kind of...low...and you could see his ass crack - it was pretty damn funny.  Couple of minutes later though, he emerges from the bus holding a pizza box, and says in that booming voice "Who ordered a pizza?!"  He hands the box to us, and says "Now, you all get a piece.   It's cold, but you guys have been waiting out here a while."  So, we got a bunch of pictures with Pete and I had him sign the back of my World Coming Down sticker directly to me. :)  While Liz, Nikki and I were having our picture taken with Pete, Joe said something to him about taking quite a while to come out of the club, and Pete replied "Well, I betcha one of these girls is yours, and look - I got 'em all now!"  I didn't hear it, but Liz told me he said that - I love his sense of humor! *LOL*  Then, we were done with our pictures, and he thanked us and said he couldn't understand why we'd want to wait for so long out in the cold - well, I just told him it was 'cause we totally appreciated what they did, and how they were so cool about meeting fans and stuff.  He wished us all a safe and good night, and boarded the bus.

So, then to waste some film, we took some random shots of our little group, said our goodbyes, and went our separate ways!   Great end to a great night!!!
